How simple is it to insert LED strips into a silicone cover as opposed to using an aluminium LED profile?
Using a silicone cover for LED strips is generally quite easy, as the material is flexible and soft. To pass the LED strip into the silicone cover, follow these steps:
Unroll the LED strip and silicone cover: Lay both the LED strip and the silicone cover on a flat surface. Make sure they're both the same length, or cut the silicone cover to the desired length if needed.
Open the silicone cover: Most silicone covers have a slit along the length of the cover. Gently open the slit to create space for the LED strip to slide in. If your cover doesn't have a slit, you might need to cut one yourself. Be careful not to cut too deep, as you don't want to slice through the cover entirely.
Insert the LED strip: Carefully slide the LED strip into the silicone cover, making sure the strip is aligned with the slit. Start from one end of the cover and work your way down the length of the cover, ensuring that the strip sits evenly and securely inside. For some covers, it may be helpful to use a small flat tool, like a credit card or a plastic spatula, to help guide the strip into the cover.
Seal the silicone cover: Once the LED strip is in place, gently press the slit closed to create a snug fit around the strip. The silicone material should grip the strip, keeping it securely in place.
Install the covered LED strip: With the LED strip safely inside the silicone cover, you can now install it in your desired location.
Keep in mind that while silicone covers provide some protection and diffusion for the LED strip, they don't offer the same level of heat dissipation
