Is the light diffusion more effective when compared to traditional aluminium profiles?
The diffusion of light using a silicone cover compared to an aluminium profile can be quite different, as both materials have different properties.
Silicone covers:
Silicone covers are flexible and translucent, which allows them to diffuse light more evenly across the surface.
They can provide a softer, more uniform glow, reducing the appearance of individual LED diodes.
However, silicone covers may not diffuse light as effectively as some aluminium profiles with frosted or opaque diffusers, especially when it comes to reducing hotspots or glare.
Aluminium profiles:
Aluminium profiles typically come with a separate diffuser, usually made of plastic (such as frosted or opaque polycarbonate or acrylic).
These diffusers can offer excellent light diffusion and create a uniform glow, similar to or even better than silicone covers, depending on the quality and design of the diffuser.
Aluminium profiles also provide better heat dissipation, which can prolong the life of the LED strip.
In summary, both silicone covers and aluminium profiles can provide good light diffusion, but the effectiveness can vary depending on the specific products you choose. Aluminium profiles with well-designed diffusers can sometimes offer better diffusion than silicone covers, while also providing improved heat dissipation. However, silicone covers may be more suitable for situations where flexibility or a softer appearance is desired.
